“Respect, love, and be considerate of all people,” said Jin Duck and Kyung Sik Kim always asking us, our children, who are our children. The foundation will practice so that the meaning of love and sharing that the deceased have unfolded can be sustained.
Donated $1,000,000.00 for the renovation of San Francisco Korean American Community Center
On December 21, 2020, The Jin Duck & Kyung Sik Kim Foundation decided to donate $1,000,000.00 to the renovation and renovation of the old San Francisco Korean Center.
As Korean Americans know well, San Francisco is a bridgehead that connects Korea and the United States and has a very important historical significance for bilateral relations. In 1882, the Joseon Dynasty and the United States began a full-fledged diplomatic relation between the United States and the Joseon Dynasty by signing a Treaty on Trade and Protection for the Protection of the United States in Chemulpo. In commemoration the following year, Emperor Gojong dispatched the first company to the western region to commemorate this, and it was San Francisco where the group first set foot.
Koreans immigrated to San Francisco from the end of the 19th century, starting with the visit of the Bobingsa company, and since then, the history of Korean immigration in the Americas has been based on the basis of Dr. Jang In-hwan and Jeon Myung-un, who were the beginnings of a full-fledged protest against Japan. It has become an indispensable center.
Ahn Chang-ho organized a Korean-American social gathering for the unity of early Korean immigrants who had a lot of difficulties when he stayed in San Francisco. I think.
Although there were not many difficulties such as antagonism and division, the Korean American Association of San Francisco has been making continuous efforts for the Korean Americans' friendship and unity as well as improving the rights and interests of Koreans in mainstream society.
I know that my father was well aware of the meaning and activities of the Korean American Association in San Francisco, so he had a lot of interest in the Korean American Association during his lifetime and did not spare any support for both sides.
In addition, the Korean American Association of San Francisco made the first purchase in North California in 1987 to purchase the building of the Korean American Hall, which was the aspiration of Koreans. With the establishment of the Korean American Center, various events could be held, and it was able to establish itself as the center of the Korean American community by playing a role as a home for senior citizens' associations and cultural organizations.
However, when I recently visited the Korean American Center, I had to feel sorry for the facilities that are getting older. The current Korean American Center was built as a Jewish community center in the early 1900s. It is already over 100 years old. Until now, the Korean American Association has put a lot of effort into maintenance, but now it is inevitable that major expansion and renovation work is inevitable. In response, the Jin Duck & Kyung Sik Foundation decided to donate 1 million dollars in the sense of supporting the Korean American Association to continue to play a central role in the Korean American community through the expansion and renovation of the Korean American Center in San Francisco.
Our foundation hopes that the Korean American Center, which will be renewed through this extension and renovation, will become a place of harmony that unites the Korean community across generations, including the first generation of immigration as well as the second and third generations. We look forward to developing into a place that preserves history.
When the Korean Center is expanded and renovated in a new shape, copper plates bearing the names of all those who participated in the construction of the San Francisco comfort women's monument will be permanently installed, and the comfort women's monument reduced to a third of the size will be displayed at the Korean Center. is.
Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to San Francisco Korean President Jeong-yeon Kwak, Chairman Park Byeong-ho, and all of the Korean Association officials who are making a lot of efforts to increase and rebuild the Korean American Center. In addition, I would like to express my gratitude to the former presidents of the Korean American Association in San Francisco, who have unified support for the expansion and reconstruction of the Korean American Center.
In particular, I would like to express my deep gratitude to Consul General Yoon Sang-soo of the Consulate General of San Francisco for serving as a bridge so that our foundation can donate 1 million dollars to the extension and renovation of the Korean American Center in San Francisco. The new consul-General Sang-soo Yoon showed a deep interest in the renovation and renovation of the Korean American Center in San Francisco and played a crucial role in the decision to donate to our foundation. In addition, we are working hard to receive up to 500,000 dollars of support from the Korean government.
Our foundation wishes that the efforts of many people, including Chairman Kwak Jeong-yeon and Consul General Yoon Sang-soo, will yield good results. Starting with the fund that our foundation emerges today, many Koreans' interest, participation, and support in the expansion and reconstruction of the Korean Center I look forward to this continuing.

History of Love Sharing
The foundation is making a lot of effort to practice the teachings of our elders, Jin Duck & Kyung Sik Kim, who always care for and help neighbors in need. Since its establishment in 2012, the foundation has supported the Eastside Neighborhood Center, which has provided meals for the homeless and low-income people in San Jose.
The San Jose Eastside Neighborhood Center provides meals for the homeless and also supports low-income people. The foundation visits the center every year during the Christmas season and distributes'Jumpers of Love' for homeless people and also provides personal hygiene products such as mouthwash sets.
We are also carrying out support activities for low-income children in the Santa Clara area. The Foundation is providing a gift of hope to the Santa Clara County Department of Social Welfare to children who are growing up energetically without losing their dreams despite difficulties such as dolls, toys, and sports equipment.
In addition, the foundation supports the 'Korea Day Festival' organized by the Korean American Community Center of San Francisco and the KONO event, an Oakland Korea Town festival, and provides scholarship programs such as the San Francisco Council of the Democratic Peace and Unification Advisory Council, as well as support for the events of the Korean School Council in Northern California, and the World Cup. We are carrying out various activities, such as sponsoring a cheering exhibition and supporting a filial piety feast for local seniors.
